Kalliope discs music box with single comb and 48 teeth. 14 discs, 23 cm in diameter. The winding mechanism in the centre is typical of Kalliope music boxes. Beautiful case with profiled elements and bobbins. Motif with playing putti on inside of lid. Dimensions: 34 cm wide, 32 cm deep, 18 cm high. The disc player is the successor of the cylinder music box. Inventor: Paul Lochman in Leipzig in 1886. The flourishing of the disc music box was short-lived, because the phonograph was invented in 1890. The music box plays well. Shipped as registered parcel.
