Exceptional and very rare antique French Pillivuyt game porcelain tureen/terrine with a woodcock head in the form of a paté en croute

Fantastic antique French Pillivuyt porcelain tureen ("terrine à gibier en trompe l'oeil") with a woodcock figural lid (glazed ceramic with hunting theme). The tureen is made in “Porcelaine à Feu” (fired porcelain) which is confirmed by its hard, glassy, white interior. The lid has a factory made perforation to release steam. Marked on base with "Pillivuyt - Porcelaine à feu - Mehun - Made in France" stamp. Pillivuyt & Cie is an old and very famous porcelaine manufacture located in the middle of France at Mehun-sur-Yerre. The Pillivuyt company made several different game tureen with animal heads in the past (all of which being hand painted). Some of them are not so rare (hare and mallard drake notably) but the others (pheasant and red-legged partridge) are very rare. The one with the woodcock is as far the rarest of all and the most valuable for the collectors. It is nowadays very difficult to find one on the market in such a perfect condition: Do not miss this one because you might not see one for sale again before a long time !
