Original, very nice etching by Rembrandt. Scene: self-portrait by Rembrandt with beret and his eyes wide open. This etching of the original etching plate (1630) is on 19th century paper. (see 'letter of authentication and valuation'.) This certificate of authenticity was issued by Mr W. Janssen of 'De Schildercamer bv’, in Amsterdam. In very good condition, without damage. This scene of the etching was used in the Rembrandt year (400th anniversary of this year of birth) to promote the exhibition in the Rembrandt House Museum and national museum, both in Amsterdam. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn ( Leiden, 15 July 1606 – Amsterdam, 4 October 1669) was a Dutch painter, etcher and draughtsman. He is generally considered to be one of the greatest painters and engravers in European art, and as the most important Dutch master of the 17th century. Rembrandt produced a total of about three hundred paintings, three hundred etchings and two thousand drawings. This etching can only be picked up in Laren (Noord-Holland), the Netherlands. If you, as a buyer, cannot pick it up, you can contact me and I will arrange shipment. The costs of this will be charged to the buyer.
