Rhetoric can be understood only in relation to the logic described in the Organon. The rhetorical use of the same means as those of logic, but instead to argue the scientific assumptions or truths, it argues, using the same methods, views, singular truths. Rhetoric thus uses argument while logic uses demonstration. This is why rhetoric, for Aristotle, is the way to the debate and political reflection in life, polis, while logic, operating in science, is ineffective and even harmful in political life. Rhetoric forms thus the practical articulation, in the work of Aristotle, between politics, ethics, and logic. It explains how and why man, animal endowed with reason and who speaks (in Greek these two qualities are called simply the λόγος), uses the word effectively used to perfect, in polis, his nature.
