In very good, antique condition - diameter 1.5 to 2.5 cm
Fourteen exceptionally beautiful bronze or brass BELLS from West Africa, western Ivory Coast, presumably DAN.
These are handmade bells, made using the lost mold (lost wax or cire perdue) method.
They all have a ring, so they can be worn on a necklace, strap or cord, around the neck, around the waist, by children and by adults; sometimes by animals as well.
In very good condition, lovely old patina due to long-term tribal use, some have acquired a very smooth finish, and were used well. Some have clear damage due to use.
13 of the 14 bells make a clear tinkling sound, because there is a stone or a piece of metal inside the bell.
Measurements and weight (approximately): diameter varies from 1.5 to 2.5 cm; weight is 181 grams in total. The individual weight varies from around 6.6 grams (the smallest bell), 13 grams (medium size), up to 19.8 grams (the largest).
