This is a relatively early piece by The Connor Brothers entitled "You'll Call Won't You?" from their 'True Love Stories' series. It is a giclee print on archival paper with silkscreen varnish overlay and deckled edge. A beautiful print that very rarely comes up for sale. It is from an edition of 95 and has been kept flat and never framed. It is one of only three Connor Brothers prints found in the V & A Collection.
The Connor Brothers first entered the art scene as American twins brought up within an extremist Christian cult known as 'The Family.' At sixteen the twins escaped to Brooklyn where they began creating artworks in order to make sense of the world they had been deprived of. However, in October 2014 these characters were revealed as a myth and art dealers Mike Snelle and James Golding exposed themselves as The Connor Brothers. The revelation of their identity saw a huge increase in sales with their work having been sold alongside Banksy and Damien Hirst at Christie's and Bonham's.
They use collage compositions to subvert the meaning of vintage romance novels and provide a cynical and penetrating eye at contemporary culture.
