Litho-ceramic - signed at the base of the neck and label of the production
|Condition:||Overall in good condition|
Triptych of sculptures signed by Lorenzo Pepe, Italian manufacture from the 1950s.
The litho-ceramic (or klinker), material still not very known in the sculpture, was then a newly invented substance, obtained through the mixing of clay with finely ground stone materials (porphyry, basalt): the sculpture was shaped when soft and then fired at very high temperatures (1250° and more) giving it a thick and extremely durable consistency, with the characteristic, almost glazed, appearance.
The sculptures have production labels (see the pictures) (Litoceramica Piccinelli)
The three sculptures have also the signature engraved on the neck of each piece.
Dimensions of the sculpture only:
Green sculpture 23 x 17 x 11 (cm)
White large sculpture 24 x 17 x 13 (cm)
White small sculpture 15 x 14 x 12 (cm)
