Numbered copy of this remarkable portfolio of plates by Marina Battigelli (1896-1979). An artwork exclusively dedicated to maternity, showing babies and young children with or without their mother.
The illustrated portfolio contains 16 lithographs reproducing charcoals and a suite of 8 red chalk plates, 34 x 24 cm.
Good overall condition, defects are minor.
Marina Battigelli is an Italian painter, illustrator and writer (sometimes with the pseudonym Agnese Lulli). She was born in Cairo by parents of Trieste and began at a young age an exhibition of etchings in 1915, then to an exhibition about relation betwenn child and mother (1921). A beginning that seems to mark her production: out of nearly 90 titles in which she collaborates, about thirty are dedicated to the religious literature of childhood. Her art obtained a mention at the 22th biennale of Venice, she exhibited in Tokyo, Lipsia, New York and collaborated with a dozen publishers as well for the flourishing market of illustrated postcards.
