Rare collector's watch from Pierce - original dial - black Very beautiful condition. Proper calibre 134
Only a few watch manufacturers in the 1940s provided their watches with a self-produced proper calibre because production was expensive and complicated. Pierce Suisse makes these.
On offer is a two-button chronograph with 60-minute counter tachymeter and telemeter scales. It uses a standard centre sweep second chronograph hand. It was first made with 7 stones and later with 17 stones. It oscillates at 18,000 (half) BPH and has a power reserve of 30 hours. The movement uses an A-pillar wheel and a vertical friction clutch to activate the chronograph. The latter feature made this Pierce movement special by introducing the so-called vertical clutch into the watch world.
Year of manufacture of the watch is around 1948
Movement diameter: 34 mm
Black dial. Small seconds at 6 o'clock. 60 minute counter at the 12 o'clock. Large red stop hand. PIERCE SUISSE CHRONOGRAPHE-labelled luminous hands.
