Good condition - 45 cm Nagasa
Shinto period Japanese wakizashi in fine Edo koshirae.
The early 18th century blade is well forged with fine strong high hamon with many activitied, very powerfull pattern, the polish is old with light scratches, but still very sharp and clean.
The tang is unaltered with good patination, it is signed:
Mei reads: Hizen koku junin Tadayoshi , a well known 18th century smith from the very famous Hizen Tadayoshi family line.
The Edo koshirae is nice, the saya has sparkling shell dust lacquer (lightly worn only), there is also 3 golden samurai family mon, the kurigata has good shitodomes also. Habakis is well crafted solid healthy copper piece, nice iron tsuba, thick seppas, tsuka has healthy old ito and rayskin, finely detailed thick menukies and great dolg inlayed matching fuchi and kashira of cormorant birds or alike.

To the best of our knowledge we have tried to verify the signature, the signature of the sword is not guaranteed as there are no NBTHK or NTHK origami (certification paper) to go with the sword.
To be reasonably certain as to the maker of a specific sword, it is necessary to submit the sword for shinsa (judging) by one of the major Japanese sword study associations (NBTHK or NTHK). These organizations will judge the sword and issue appropriate papers (origami) attesting to the swords authenticity and/or historical importance.
