The fragment of the bowl consists of parts of its flat base, wall and a handle. The marble is white and sintered. The artefact was found in Carnuntum. A marble bowl was a luxury product in ancient Rome, so even fragments of it are very rare today.
Provenance: collection of Dr. E, acquired by him in Vienna in the mid of the 1990s from an owner of an old collection of archaeological artefacts found in Pannonia Superior.
The item comes with an export license issued by the "Bundesdenkmalamt der Republik Österreich".
