Natanz carpets knotted as part of the Kashan group - a city located approx. 40 km south of Kashan on the road to Isfahan - have the finest quality standards of Kashan. They are easy to recognise by their typical realistically depicted architectural and landscape elements within the otherwise classic Kashani composition. Carpets from Natanz are very rare and were rarely knotted, particularly in larger sizes. This densely knotted specimen, that has never been repaired, does not have the double knots of the fringe and the Shirazi any longer. The carpet is worn almost to the base, but the viewer still discerns the true beauty of this carpet.
