Ala Architects Lamp by Rodolfo Bonetto for Guzzini.
The ALA lamp was originally designed for architects and grew to become a masterpiece in modern lighting. The beautiful long lines and sharp angles make this lamp a slim appearance in cast aluminium. The pivot base enables a movement of 360 degrees and the balance is used to adjust the lamp to any desired height. Function and shape are entirely in harmony here. Since its release in 1983, the ALA lamp has become a very popular design classic. It is part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou Museum in Paris.
The life of Italian designer Rodolfo Bonetto (Milan 1929) is as curious as the history of the Italian company (Harvey) Guzzini for which he designed his masterpiece, the 'ALA' lamp. Rodolfo Bonette started his career off as a successful jazz drummer before developing himself into a multifaceted industrial designer.
The Italian company Harvey Guzzini (later iGuzzini and Guzzini) was founded in 1958 by six Guzzini brothers. In the 20th century, the company changed its name a record number of times. Such as Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, IGuzzini and Illuminazione Guzzini.
