The Singer New Family - machine was introduced in America in 1818. The New Family-machine would later be known as the Singer 12. This model has a stylish industrial design Singer 12, Fiddlebase (including wooden dust cover) and was still party designed by Isaac Singer, who developed these machines since the industrial revolution and the American civil war.
The wooden dust cover can be slid sideways over the machine and is held in place by a lock door (damaged).
These old machines have double serial numbers. In this case it is the largest of the two that is being used. This model is from production year 1883, serial number 5048911.
Condition: in vintage condition, good mechanical operation, has not been tested for actual sewing.
