A stunning antique handmade Persian silk Kashan rug circa 1910, measuring 205 x132cm (6’7”x4’). The eye-catching open field decorated with meandering vines and arabesques in white and gold background secluded by detailed floral borders in similarly antique background colours. The rarity in both design and colours as well as being remarkably in good conditions make it a desirable addition to any interiors. This rug was used as a hanging wall decor and therefore contains cloth attached to the back of the rug whereby the piece of hanging wood pulled through. There are few areas where colours slightly lighter, I think this is to do with the silk used. The pile is very consistent with no patches of the wear. Fringes slightly shorten but original. A very decorative piece in good overall condition.
This rug was exported from Iran before 2015
