Beautiful work of an anonymous engraver from the 19th century, on watermarked laid paper, with small margins above the framing line, in excellent condition (see the pictures). With date and monogram RHL 1628 on the left side.
The subject of the etching is the mother of Rembrandt, Cornelia, portrayed multiple times by the son between 1628 and 1631. The copy from which it comes, is part of the long series of psychological studies of the faces of characters in which the artist try to represent feelings and moods and that affected both his pictorial and graphic production.
