The folding top is mounted on hinges with internal rollers and counterweights. The internal part of the drawers is made of solid mahogany. There are two secret compartments that open by two buttons hidden in a drawer. The secretaire was purchased at an auction in Tours, France, 1998. It was part of the furniture of a house which belonged to the marquise Du Barry. Diamond-shaped locks and keys. The lower frame is a hidden drawer that can be closed by turning the key of the lower doors three times.
