Saruk Ferahan persian carpet, 1880 – 1890
The highest splendour of the production of the period was achieved in the 1700s under the Persian Nader Shah who installed the highly skilled Herat masters in Farahan. For this exact reason, the Herati pattern is the most widespread of the local masterpieces, which is however preferably carried out maximizing the ornamentation on a blue field without a medallion. The decorative gamut also covers other typologies: there are open space examples strewn with elegant paisley elements, or else medallion carpets.
Extra fine and very soft.
The rug is almost in good condition, although in some places the wool is lower, and in others it is higher (also seen in the photos).
