1969: Creation of the Laboratory of Accidentologi, Biomechanics and Study of Human behavior shared by french vehicle manufactures.
1974: Renault presents the BRV - Basic Research Vehicle.

1985: ABS brakes appear in Renault 25
1991: Renault presents COVER, a study vehicle based on R19.

1995: Passenger side-airbag, load limiters revoulutionize the safety belt function.
1996: Thorax (breast) front seat side airbags in Renault Safrane.
1998: Second generation Renault-system for Restraint (seat belts) and Protection.
1999: Espace four-star rating in Euro NCAP crash test and best in class.
2000: Clio get a four star rating in Euro NCAP crash test. Emergency Brake Assist in Scénic. Together with PSA Peugeot Citroën Renaut create a unit to research the driver behaviour psychology.
2001: ESP-brakes appear in Laguna III. The safety systemtems are evolving, f.ex. Head-protective curtain airbag and several other safety features. Laguna II still the only car to achive a five star Euro NCAP rating
