Sterling Silver 925/1000 - Weight approx. 165 grams
Here you see a large, heavy, antique English Victorian/Georgian octagonal (sugar)shaker with beautiful open work casting lid with ornament on top and standing on broadened somewhat stepped and ribbed base. The octagonal casting lid fits snug and sturdy (in one way) on the body.
No cracks or deformations present, only some very superficial age-related wear including 2 superficial dents and one very small hole on the thick connective edge of the casting lid.
This shaker was made in 1897 in London in the silver smithy of "Henry Matthews". The above dates are still clearly discernible from the marks and slightly faded master stamp.
Weight approx. 165 grams,
Height approx. 15.5 cm,
Width base approx. 6.5 cm,
Width centre body approx. 5 cm
