In good used condition late 19 early 20 century
This is a very old unique ships anchor lantern, it would lite and hoisted in the mast a white round shining light to say at anchor not under command. What makes it unique is that the lamp wick can be adjusted from outside the lantern with a cogwheel drive on the lamp it is complete with wind-glass and working on the bottom of the lantern there is a small hatch with a hole for the adjustment knob ..On the inside the lamp is kept in place with two spring clips on the lid of the lantern please see the photos . Very heavy made from a galvanized plate with bronze fittings and a heavy fresnel lens. There is age related wear some small chips in the lens and some denting to the lamp please see the photos Size Dia 200mm height 400mm height with handle 500mm .will be well packed and sent with?? depending on where.

Unfortunately the gimbal ring did not survive the transport. It was already weakened and cracked and broke in one place by the pivot. It is repairable I hope. The compass needs work than I thought.
