Sir William Temple (1628-1699) was an English diplomat. In 1668 he took part in negotiating the Triple Alliance between England, the Dutch Republic and Sweden. He was ambassador in The Hague but left because of the third Anglo-Dutch war. In 1674, he returned to the Republic and he was involved in the marriage between stadtholder William III and the English Princess Mary.
