Condition: Outside bindings in very good condition just slightly soiled - spine of volume 2 with the title partly erased.
Inside a bit aged, stained but in reasonable condition - Water staining especially on all the flyleaves of volume 2
1st edition full translation of Filleau De Saint-Martin (?) (As shown on the inside of the cover of volume 1.)
‘The ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of la Mancha is published in two parts: Years 1605 and 1615.’
‘The first French translation of Don Quixote of Cervantes was made by César Oudin, published in 1614 (part 1), the second in 1618 by François de Rosset. The two were brought together in 1639. The Editor CI. Barbin asks François de Saint-Martin at the end of the 17th century for a new translation, which was published in 1677 and 1678 in 4 volumes.’
