RARE INDIAN DASS & DUTT ANTIQUE COLONIAL ERA SILVER 4-PIECE CONDIMENT CRUET SET
Late 19th-century (c1890) Indian solid silver 900 small cruet set, comprises two pepper pots and two salt cellars.
Made by the sought after Calcutta silversmiths Dass & Dutt.
Featuring scenes of farming scenes of the period, rural architecture, tropical trees, coconut and banana plants. The emphasis on people in rustic clothing - typical design characteristics of Dass & Dutt.
The pieces are heavily ornamented. All individually hand chased. The decorations crisp and highly detailed.
They are free from monograms or inscriptions.
The silver tested and shows 900+ silver standard.
Each piece individually marked Dass & Dutt, Bhowanipore, Calcutta. (Bhowanipore is a suburb south of Calcutta).
Heavy gauge, high quality and solidly built.
The pair of solid silver salt spoons, also from the same period, made with Indian colonial era Victoria and Edward VII antique silver coins 'two annas' as the spoon bowls.
