Rare Queen Elizabeth II 1953 Coronation Throne Money Box / Coin Bank made by John Harper

It is made from cast metal and, unlike the more common cast iron and cast bronze coin banks, it has an unusual copper lustre finish. It is heavy and has the original base at the bottom of the bank ( a lot have the base plate missing). There are screws on the bottom to allow access to the money with 'OPEN HERE' on the base plate. On the front of money box is written 'E II R 1953' with a slot for the money above it. It is completely intact with no missing parts. It has a lion at each corner of the throne. It is in excellent vintage condition - with minor signs of wear. It has an amazing patina. Please see the pictures for a more detailed account of the item's wear and condition.
