Jean Louis Paul GERVAIS alias "PAUL GERVAIS" is a French painter born in Toulouse on September 7, 1859 and died in the same city in 1936 or March 11, 1944.
He attended school at the Beaux Arts de Toulouse then Paris where he was a pupil of Jean Léon Gerôme and Gabriel Ferrier.
Member of the French artists, he won many awards.
Painter of history, allegorical subjects and genre scenes that were very
famous in those days, he received many orders for public and private mural compositions:
Works by the artist;
- Salle des illustres in the Capitole of Toulouse
-Apollon et les arts (1897)
- Dura lex sed lex (1905)
- La fontaine de Jouvence (1908)
- La salle des mariages of the Capitole
- Musée des Augustins de Toulouse - 4 paintings
including "la Folie de Titania"
In addition to the Capitol, he decorated:
- Hotel Pams in Perpignan "l'Arrivée triomphale de Vénus"
- Ministère des colonies in Paris
- Casino of Monaco
- Casino of Nice
- Mairie de Saint-Ouen (protected works because declared historical monuments
since 1986)
- Musée de peinture Petiet in Limoux
- Salon impérial hotel du Palais in Biarritz
- Paris - Petit palais - Musée des beaux arts
- Besançon salle des audiences

In addition to all the invaluable allegorical and genre scenes painted by the master in prestigious locations of which some have been classified as historical heritage, he is listed in all the artist listings with a very good quotation

NOTE; Premières pensées en Italien "macchia".
These are light sketches in which painters give free way to their imagination using just a few strokes of pencil or pen to mark their intentions and the order and the character that they want to give to their drawing.
These sketches, made by various masters become precious in the eyes of an expert, because they usually contain a spirit of directness, freedom, fire and boldness and strong spiritual traits, actually a kind of spirit that you cannot find in more delicate drawings.
