Ernst Voss (1959) was one of the members of the artists collective ‘After Nature’, which opposed the prevailing abstract expressionism and caused a furore in the eighties and nineties with an innovative figurative style of painting.
The painter from South Africa followed his education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy from 1979 to 1984 after he came to Amsterdam via England
The offered work comes from the series ‘Daily Sketches’ from 2012, where Voss painted an item from the news every day. In this case a memorial to the attack in Norway (committed by Anders Breivik).
The work is in excellent condition and has been painted along the edges, so that it can be hung without frame.
