Chester 1903 hallmark.
The firm was established in 1865 by James Deakin at the Sidney Works, in Matilda Street, at Sheffield. During 1886 he was joined in partnership by his three sons, William Pitchford, John and Albert and the style of the firm was changed to James Deakin & Sons. In 1888 they opened London offices and showrooms at 48 Holborn Viaduct. Later other branches were opened at Glasgow and Belfast. In 1897 the firm was converted to James Deakin & Sons Ltd.
Fitted with a properly fitting lid that also has silver hallmarks.
The salt cellar has a height of 6.5 cm. and weighs approximately 15.3 g.
The salt cellar is entirely in good condition, but does have some slight dents - not disturbing.
