Ca. 1903, the Netherlands
Beautiful solid mahogany showpiece cabinet from the designer Daniel van Dorp for the company Onder den Sint Maarten", about 1903.
The cabinet is richly decorated with the distinctive new Art carving.
The piece of furniture consists of three doors with cut glass in copper panes. The doors and three drawers can be pulled out using the well-known cabinet fittings from the early period of the company. Behind the doors are shelves for books, and an area to use as a display case. Under the drawers are 2 more boards of displaying vases or sculptures for example. On the showroom photo from 1905 a similar piece of furniture is depicted.
The piece of furniture is sturdy and in good condition, free of woodworm, in the right door at the level of the cut panel a practically invisible bit is missing (photo). This, however, I should like to mention. There is also a chip, which is not obtrusive, on the inside of the two panes (photo)
Height 149.5 cm.
Depth: 33.5 cm
Width 101.5 cm
