1963 Colheita, bottled in 2008
Burmester Colheita Port 1963
Dark amber color. Intense nose of exotic wood, almond, walnut and sweet spices. In the mouth, sweet and velvety with powerful flavors of burnt sugar, salted caramel and honey. Endless finish.
Roy Hersh 96 points: "This is possibly my favorite of all Colheitas under 50 years of age. This is quite a mouthful and I don't lay that claim lightly. Cedar, almond and Asian spice provides a decadent melange of heady aromatics. On the palate, velvety smooth honey caramel are so soft that you don't actually need to swallow, juts let the juice naturally drain down your gullet. As good as this all sounds the best part is actually the insane ending as the "finish" just never does. If you are looking to try one awe inspiring Colheita, this will do the trick (every time)!"
