Woodblock print by Kitagawa Utamaro (1753 – 1806) (reprint) - Beauties after a Bath and Cat - Japan - ca. 1920s
A precious re-edition of a work made in 1803 by Kitagawa Utamaro. In the work, titled "Beauties after a Bath and Cat", the artist confirms the unmatched sensuality of his bijin, presented to the observer with elegance and mastery.
In addition to the beauty of details, the wise visual composition of the figures: the left one straight and dressed in vertical rows, as well as in front of a byobu screen that highlights her half-moon curve; the right one crouching as contained within the first and dressed in a completely different yukata decorated with a chrysanthemum fantasy.
The woodcut, despite a proper patina of time, is in very good condition.
