Original woodblock triptych by Utagawa Kunisada III (1848-1920) - The Ghost Story of Kasamori in the Moonlight - Japan - 1897
Kunisada III, who signs this triptych entitled "The Ghost Story of Kasamori in the Moonlight", was familiar with the world of ghosts: in fact the artist spoke of seeing apparitions.
The three woodblock prints were made on the occasion of the staging of the play by Kawatake Mokuami. The protagonist was Kasamori Osen, a famous beauty, visible on the left in the interpretation of Nakamura Fukusuke, who also interpreted, in the central panel, the maidservant Okichi. In the right panel Ichikawa Danzo in the role of the villain Shimobe Ichisuke.
The work, made by the publisher Fukuda Kumajiro, despite the right signs of the time is in good general condition.
Size: 71 x 37 cm
The woodblock prints will be well-packaged and shipped by registered mail with a tracking code.
