Original kuchi-e woodblock print by Tsutsui Toshimine (1863-1934) - Moonlit Night and Bushclover - Japan - 1905
Beautiful woodblock print of the kuchi-e type, taken from the famous literary magazine Bungei Kurabu and made by Tsutsui Toshimine as an illustration of the novel "Moonlit Night and Bushclover".
Tsutsui Toshimine (1863 - 1934) was born in the prefecture of Hyogo and was probably a pupil of the famous Tsukiyoka Yoshitoshi, as can be deduced from the fact that his name is mentioned on the memories of the latter. An illustrator for newspapers and magazines, in the first decade of the twentieth century he concentrated on the images accompanying novels.
The print, published in 1905 by Hakubunkan Shinsha, despite an obvious patina of the time is in good general condition. The margins are trimmed.
Size: 30,5 x 22 cm
The woodblock print will be well-packaged and shipped by registered mail with a tracking code.
