Born in 1933, Giancarlo Mattioli is an Italian designer who became famous in the 1950s and 1960s.
His most famous work, the Nesso table lamp, is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art and other important museums in New York, and it remains stylish and modern, despite the fact that it was designed in the mid 20th century. The celebrated Nessus won first prize in the Studio Artemide Domus competition in Milan in 1965.
In the 1960s, he formed the group Architects Planners "New City", together with Pierluigi Cervelatti, Umberto Maccaferri, Franco Morelli, Gianpaolo, Mazzucato and Mario Zaffagnini.
