Jef Verheyen was a Belgian painter. He studied at the Royal Academy of fine arts in Antwerp and at the Higher Institute in the classes in painting, drawing and ceramics (with Olivier Strebelle, 1946-1954). At the institute he also met his future wife Dani Franque.
In 1954, they opened a ceramics workshop-store: L'atelier 14, opposite the Rubens House. From 1956 onwards they took part in several exhibitions and salons with ceramics in Belgium. Verheyen painted more and more, and travelled to Italy (Milan), where he met P. Manzoni, R. Crippa and Lucio Fontana. Verheyen was one of the co-founders of G-58. Publishes “Essentialisme” and works in Antwerp with among others P. De Vree and E. Van Anderlecht to the “Nieuwe Vlaamse School”. With E..V.A he paints a series of 10 paintings:
