In good condition
The chryselephantine technique was used for the first time by Greek sculptors. In those statues the ivory was completed by gilded parts made of wood or metal. In this way they built a figure of Athena in Aegina.
This technique was resumed during the Art Nouveau period, because ivory was one of the favourite materials of the sculptors of that time.
This sculpture is signed on the wood (Baron) and has a green marble base (another recurrent colour and material of Art Deco). It represents the sacred heart of Jesus blessing. Ivory hands, face and foot. Walnut clothes.
The sculpture has no defects and it’s in very good condition!
Fair dimensions: height 25 cm, base 8 cm x 5 cm.
It is supplied with a certificate that guarantees the period and the origin of the ivory, in accordance with the CITES regulations, signed by Tomassi.
