From the First Crespin Lyons edition of Virgil's works, 1529, containing the reused woodcuts prepared for the Johan Gruninger Strasbourg edition of Virgil, (1502) but on fine continental velin and therefore with a dark rich tone.

Medieval woodcut leaf from the works of Virgil published by Crispin. This edition is rightly acclaimed for its magnificent series of woodcut illustrations by the anonymous Late Master of the Grüninger Workshop.
