Geneviève Claisse, born in 1935 in Quiévy, is a French artist and renowned figure of geometrical abstraction, both in painting and sculpture. Nevertheless, the artist claims never to be interested in drawing or realistic representation. The choice of abstraction, in her case, was a means to control the space and explore the question of movement within the painting, explorations additionally inspired by the work of painter Auguste Herbin (who later came out to be her relative). Claisse held her first individual exhibitions at the Galerie Hybler and Galerie Caille à Cambrai in Paris (1958), and since 1961 she has been represented by the Parisian Galerie Denise René, where she has been regularly exhibiting until now. By the end of the 60s, with the exhibitions like "Optical Art" (1968) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Oslo, the painter started to be considered within the emerging movement. Some of her more recent exhibitions include "Ganz konkret" (2011) at the Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, and "Homage to the Square" (2009-10) at the Museum Ritter in Waldenbuch. Today, her work is on view at the Musée Matisse in Le Cateau-Cambrésis (until September 2015), which also held a collection of her paintings.

    Response by seller
Dear buyer, this feedback section is made for the feedback of my sold product: the quality and condition of the art work and it‘s packaging. I am sorry, but I can’t take responsibility for duration of shipping and the import procedures and fees in your country. It would be nice if you consider this in your feedback. The origin of the product is clearly marked as Switzerland and as any other product which you order outside the EUropean Union, it must be imported with further costs.
  • All right. Thank you for the precise packaging. Thank you
