De Ster Gelderland - Set of 2 Teak vintage designer armchairs the Netherlands - 1960s
A set of two 1960s vintage designer armchairs made of solid Teak by the Dutch furniture manufacturer "De Ster" in Geldermalsen, later and more commonly known by the name "De Ster Gelderland". The armchairs are designed in very elegant and organic way, with beautiful smooth lines that are hardly broken. Only by the connection underneath the armrest, from which the name of the armchairs is derived, "De Knoop" (The Knot). The woodwork is in very good condition, has a deep warm colour and a fine satin finish of the wax treatment, which looks very beautiful due to the design of the armchairs. Both of the armchairs have been reupholstered entirely and the seat suspension was replaced, because the original white rubber webbing was torn, dried out and/or largely deteriorated. The webbing in the back is still original and still in good condition. Unfortunately, the bottom one is missing of one of the armchairs, but this does not affect the seating comfort! The (loose) back & seat cushions have been completely remade as well and covered with a beautiful warm neutral and slightly mottled medium grey fabric, which fits in everyone's interior and does not affect the design! Unique is that both armchairs still have the original "De Ster" factory label on the back! A lovely elegantly designed couple of armchairs in very good newly upholstered condition that can be enjoyed by the true vintage/design enthusiast for many years to come!!!
