Fiat - Nuova 500 Sport ‘metallic roof’ - 1959

HISTORY It was 1958 and Fiat decided to launch a Racing version of the legendary ‘cinquino’: 500 Sport, with a new engine branded 110.004 that boasted, thanks to a higher stroke value, increased displacement (from 479 cm³ to 499.5 cm³) and maximum power (from 15 hp to 21.5 hp).  Goodbye to the cast iron camshaft in favour of a steel one, re-profiled combustion chambers, reinforced valve springs, oversized valves, new pistons, polished ducts, larger diameter fan pulley (to reduce revolutions and consequently the power absorbed) and 8/39 axle ratio. The car was immediately competitive and at the 12 hours of Hockenheim on 26th May 1958, conquering the first four places. DESCRIPTION This is really an exclusive and rare car, a model produced only in a few hundred units, only 8 are still in circulation. Registered in 1959, full accurate restoration has been just carried out by professionals, delivering the car in concourse-worthy condition (total cost of restoration €20,000). The original metal sheet parts were sandblasted and recovered and painted, original very good bottom, new interior. Engine and the whole mechanics are pristine and renewed, with only 35 km driven after the restoration! A complete folder with photos of the restoration is available. A rare item for connoisseurs and collectors! The car can be viewed/tested and picked up in Controguerra (TE), Italy.   We will take care of the administrative procedures and documents also for the export, and we can also arrange the transport.
