The sculpture represents the 155th years of the auction of wine in barrels at the Hospices de Beaune (21) in France which takes place every year on the third Sunday in November.
The convent, hotel-Dieu or Hospice de Beaune in flamboyant Gothic style with glazed tile roof of Burgundy, founded in the fifteenth century by the Chancellor of the Dukes of Burgundy Nicolas and her husband;
The sculpture made entirely by hand in metal steel by the artist, represents this formidable sale;
A nun carrying a wine barrel and the roof of the Hospice de Beaune. The annual wine auction in Hospice de Beaune, which only sells wine in barrel, is always done by candlelight;
The wooden barrel is circled with copper metal, it was also made by hand by master (René Mauder, best worker of France) whose signature is engraved on a copper circle.
