Beautiful atmospheric watercolour on paper from this famous Hilversum artist. Is in good condition, colours are good, paper is slightly yellow.
Joop van Wolde attended the Rietveld Academy and subsequently the Amsterdam State Academy of Fine Arts. He was a pupil of famous sculptor Hildo Krop, city sculptor of Amsterdam. Joop made many statues near Hilversum, of which a few have been stolen by bronze thiefs.
Joop also created many paintings for the renowned art trade; landscapes and cityscapes were his specialty. For landscapes, he painted in nature and therefore 'en plein air'. Joop was also a photographer and for his models and cityscapes he used photography as his base. There is extensive photo archive of him and his photographs of old Amsterdam.
After his death in 1997, these paintings and statues were no longer offered for sale and were therefore unavailable to the public. These works of art are now becoming available again.
