The body of the pirogue was shaped like a crocodile. There is a rower in front who guides the pirogue, whereas both primordial couples are seated in the centre with an escort. Finally, a second rower is placed in the back of the pirogue to guard it.

The Dogon are a people from Mali, in Western Africa. Their total population is estimated at 700.000 individuals. They live in a region named the Dogon Country which runs from the Bandiagara Cliffs to the southwest of the Niger Bend. A few Dogons live in the North of Burkina Faso, and others are established in Côte d'Ivoire.

The Dogon people are mostly cultivators (essentially mil) and smiths. They are famous for their cosmogony and sculptures. They speak the Dogon language which gathers many dialects. There is also a secret language, the sigi so, a language exclusively spoken within the society of masks. The Dogon people are related to the Bozo ethnic group, through the ‘joking relationship’ (called sinankunya in Mali). The Dogon and the Dogon people mutually make fun of each other, but in return they owe mutual assistance to each other.

  • The box arrived damage, however multiple layers of bubble wrap packing ensure that the contents were safe. Unable to see if the postal costs matched the €25 I paid

Envio rápido, peça bem embrulhada em plástico bolhas mas inserida em caixa de cartão insuficiente. A peça chegou danificada com duas enormes fissuras que desfiguram. É uma pena ter ficado assim.
