Pöllmann Mittenwald double bass, ca. 1920
According to an assessment by Josef Saumer, Johannes Rubner and Alfred Meyer from Markneukirchen, this double bass is from the Pöllmann workshop in Mittenwald.
A master’s note is not inside the instrument.
This was confirmed as a work from this workshop from the period between 1920 - 1930 on the basis of pictures and a personal telephone conversation with Mr Kramer of Pöllmann in June 2017.
The bass is reddish brown in colour and is in flawless condition.
The upper back is 50 cm,
the lower back is 67 cm,
the frames are 20 cm wide,
the vibrating length of the strings is 110.5 cm (nut/bridge)
