The great wave of Kanagawa (Kanaghawa-oki nami ura, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa"), also known as The Great Wave or just The Wave, is a woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai.
It was published some time between 1829 and 1833 , in the late Edo period, as a first edition in the series by Hokusai, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.
It is the most famous work by Hokusai and one of the most recognisable pieces of Japanese art in the world.
