GM delegated the production of its convertible model to the company NCE. In fact, Pontiac sold more Trans Ams in 1979 than Ford sold Mustangs thereby becoming the No.1 muscle car in the USA.
NCE is therefore the only official company to work with GM for the production of the convertible version of its Trans Am. The production cost price was so exorbitant that only 250 copies were produced.
