Hevioso Shango Sceptre - FON - Benin H.35cm
Ancient ceremonial sceptre representing a figure topped by an axe with a stylised double blade, symbol of the Shango, the god of war and thunder, The figure is rather expressive. Beautiful patina of wear, traces of offerings located on the front of the object. The back is in raw wood. The bottom of the sceptre is missing. Placed on a stand. Around 1940.
