WW2 German Reichsbahn - Water Protection Police Dagger, 1938 Model for Commanders

German Reichsbahn - Water Protection Police dagger, 1938 model for commanders. Classic piece of manufacturing by the Eickhorn company, Solingen. The mounts on the handle and scabbard are silver-plated non-ferrous metal, black grip. Extremely clean blade in a superb condition, labelled with the manufacturer ‘Original Eickhorn Solingen’, the typical crossgrain is 100% preserved. The scabbard isn’t buckled and is without dents but there are a few places on the iron scabbard where there is minor blistering of rust beneath the silver plating. The handle fittings are in a good condition, the silver plating for the most part is in a good condition, in the indentations of all fittings and the dagger scabbard, it is heavily patinated/dark. The black plastic grip is in a lovely condition with signs of wear. The pommel/swastika has pronounced signs of wear. The dagger is in a used, rare but overall very nice condition. The buyer receives with the dagger an analysis report (see photo examples of the cover and several pages of this report at the end of the photos of the lot). During the Third Reich, the German Reichsbahn had several railway ferries which ran between Germany and Denmark. The few railway protection commanders serving on these ships wore this dagger along with a dark blue uniform similar to the Navy. This is certainly one of the rarest daggers of the 3rd Reich.
