The Basilica of Saint Paul outside the Walls (San Paolo fuori le Mura) is a basilica in Rome and one of the four papal basilicas of the city. It was commissioned by emperor Constantine as a small basilica built above the traditional tomb of apostle Paul, located on Via Ostiensis in Rome. The Paleochristian basilica was consecrated on 18 November 324, at the same time as the first St. Peter’s Basilica.
