Daf - 55 Coupé - Rally - 1970

Daf 55 Coupé Rally The 55 was a very important model for DAF. It was hoped that a DAF with a water-cooled Renault engine (four cylinders and 1108 cc) would give the brand a more mature image. The car had more or less the same body designed by Giovanni Michelotti as the Daf 44, but with a larger front (now required for the radiator) and larger rear lights. The car was slightly modified in 1969; this newer version is known as the second type. The 55 was succeeded by the 66 in 1972. The 66 made the car more individual and more recognisable. The 55 sedan got a prettier baby sister in 1968, the DAF 55 Coupé. Technically they were the same models. The Combi was introduced later that year, a station wagon. Because of the successes at for example the London-Sydney Marathon, a tune-up set was released for the 55 with a different carburetor, camshaft and modified suspension, complemented by alloy wheels, tachometer, sports steering and another exhaust in order to underline its sporty character. The Daf 55 Coupé offered here has a rich rally history and took part in many well-known and famous rallies. The most well-known is called the Monte Carlo rally for historic vehicles. The stickers on the side windows show a rich rally past. The car is very professional built both the engine as well as the body and meets all requirements for driving historic rallies. The official documents are included. There are 2 valuation reports, one is very recent. The car is in good technical condition and everything functions properly. The engine was rebuilt and has done very few kms. All materials and board equipment were assessed, labelled and documented where necessary. All documents, including technical inspection (MOT) will be redone prior to this sale. It is advisable to view the car before placing a bid. The car can be viewed in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands. Export documents will be supplied for export to other countries. Transport can be carried out by us by arrangement.
